Monkey House Carbondale youth program

Standards and Practices

To ensure the highest quality of our program and the best experience for all participants, our staff adhere to a strict set of operating procedures and clearly outlined goals and expectations.

Our staff

Our small staff here at Monkey House Carbondale is committed to providing the best experience that we can for you and your children. Collectively, we share over thirty years climbing and coaching experience. Our coaches have worked with teams at all levels from local to international, and each bring their own individual expertise to Monkey House Carbondale to ensure that we meet the unique needs of each individual student. All staff are S2Verify background checked and are held to the highest expectations and standards.

Personalized teaching and coaching

We maintain a student-to-coach ration of no more than eight students per instructor. We believe that individualized feedback is extremely important to children’s growth as climbers, and we tailor each program to suit the needs of each participant. Additionally, we provide private coaching opportunities for children and adults of all ages and experience levels if team/class practice times do not fit your schedule.

Communication

All communication will come directly from the program manager. Monkey House Carbondale’s coaching staff is forbidden to follow or communicate via any social media platform with current team/youth program members. Monkey House Carbondale will request permission from parent/guardian to tag, friend, or otherwise identify individual youth program participants on social media. Monkey House Carbondale may share images, posts, etc. on social media of generic team training, youth program events, and other activities for marketing purposes without permission only if no individuals are identified.

Safety

Monkey House Carbondale coaching staff will endeavor to provide the safest environment possible. Climbing is inherently dangerous, however, we devote a significant portion of our attention to identifying and mitigating possible safety hazards. Monkey House Carbondale believes that training for children under 18 should be limited only to body-weight exercises (i.e. no use of additional weights) to prevent climbing injuries. Additionally, we strive to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, positive, and emotionally safe environment for all children and guests.
